The best laid plans…

…always go awry, don’t they? Alex was sick today. We knew something was up when he slept until 8:45 and didn’t want breakfast. We didn’t make him go swimming, but I did take Beth. That was kinda weird. Anyway, he only seemed to be suffering from a cold right up until we started decorating the tree around noon. And then he almost threw up. Not good. So his ornaments are still sitting on the table to be hung and everyone else’s are on the tree.

We also cancelled our play-date to decorate gingerbread houses. When I talked to Lisa she said if he was OK tomorrow, they were available. But we’d probably have to miss ice skating if we did that since they tend to go to church and probably couldn’t come over until sometime in the afternoon. (We leave for skating at 4:15.) At this point I’m undecided on the best plan. We left it with maybe doing it after school/work one night, but then Jenna is on her own tomorrow and Beth is just itching to do hers.

None of the plans are ideal at this point, so we’ll just figure it out and deal. Alex at first said he didn’t want to reschedule for tomorrow because “I might still be sick.” But then just before bed he wanted to do them tomorrow. He did have some tomato soup (his choice, not mine – I pushed for chicken noodle) and some saltine crackers, so with luck he’ll be better tomorrow.

  1. Hope everything works out but you should know that on any given day Mr. Murphy will rear his ugly head. Just do the best you can.
