Snow Day!

So today is a snow day for all of us. Although it’s looking like Eric will actually have to work from home rather than have the day off. But me and the kids definitely have the day off. For them to close my office it has to be pretty bad. They’ve only closed one other time in the 8 years I’ve been there.

It’s Alex’s first Snow Day from school, which he’s really happy about. Eric picked him up from school early because of the early dismissal (only a 1/2-hour). Alex told him that he “wants to go sledding with Mama tomorrow”. Somehow I don’t think it’s going to happen, but maybe we’ll let him go down the front hill.

Here’s some pictures to give you an idea of what we’ve been hit with. They’ve been predicting a Blizzard for that last 4 days, and I think they were right! Click on the picture if you want to see it bigger.

There’s a fence between our side neighbor and our back neighbor. You can just see the top of it off to the left, near our fence:

Our “Ski Hill” of a backyard:

The garden (that fence comes up about mid-thigh on me):

View out the front. Note how high the snow is on those cars:

Out the front door (I don’t think we’re going out that way any time soon!):

Eric opened the back door to go shovel and this is what we found, which is really, really weird since there is no snow on the porch:

Happy Snow Day everyone! Here’s hoping those of you in Ohio don’t get hit with the full force of this in the next few days. Right now, we’re not sure we’re going to be able to get out of the garage tomorrow because they don’t plow the alleys around here. Unless they take pity on us and actually plow them for a change, it’s going to be really rough trying to dig out.

  1. I got a snow day too!! They closed Tri C last night, which means I don’t go to my clinicals site! Staying home, baking cookies, and catching up on my text book reading today! I’m glad we’re not in Wisconsin, all we got was a bunch of freezing rain and about 6 inches of snow the day before, but the ice on my car is 2 in think in some spots.

  2. Glad we’re home and not in WI planning on coming home. We like the fence picture, especially since we know that fence is about 5 or 6 feet tall. Have fun sliding down the front hill. We don’t think you’ll have to worry about traffic.
We got freezing rain, but no extra snow. We’re hoping your snow passes us by.

  3. Oh my gosh! Now this is snow. Glad I am in Texas. We only have ice and a small amount of snow. Be careful digging your way out but leave some fun spots for the kids to play in. They don’t seem to mind when the snow is 5 feet deep.
