Last Day

So today is officially the last day of NaBloPoMo. I only missed 1 day, so that went pretty well. I had a great story from this morning, but by the time I got to work, I had forgotten it. 🙁 Goes to show how quickly it goes away. So I’ll leave you with our evening instead.

Beth and I read at least 10 books tonight, waiting for Alex to finish his bath. (Better than reading the same one 10 times!) One of them I figured out she knows so well that she’s naming the animal before we even turn the page. She just amazes me with what she knows. Letters, numbers, shapes, colors, animals. And she’s not even two yet! Plus I was watching her today in the car crawl out of her carseat and then crawl back into it and it struck me that my Baby Girl does not move like a baby anymore. She’s sure and steady on her feet, and much more willing to try things. When did my baby turn into a toddler?

Alex is also soaking up knowledge at an incredible rate. At McDonald’s one night he was saying “2 plus 2 is 4. 1 plus 1 is 2. 5 plus 5 is 10” and so on. He’s starting to play with words: “Banana Grandma”. And he’s really starting to notice the sounds of words: “duh-duh-dee! Daddy starts with D!” If I had any doubts that putting him in 4K was not the right choice, they are gone now. He’ll be reading like a champ before we know it.

We’re buying both kids a Tag reading system for Christmas. The regular one for Alex and the Junior one for Beth. I think they’re both going to like them.

  1. The two of you sure have a smart pair of kids. They amaze us every time we see them. How fast Beth has picked up on things. How much Alex has matured since starting to school. They will both enjoy the Leapfrog Tag system. Alex is definitely showing an interest in words and Beth will be right behind him. Good Luck!

  2. Sounds like they will indeed like the Tag reading system. Keep encouraging them both and you will continue to be amazed at how much they learn and how much Beth learns from Alex.
