Alex turned two months old today. He got his first round of vaccinations yesterday. Understandably, he screamed quite loudly while the nurse stabbed him 3 times, but he recovered in less than a minute and does not seem to have any lasting effects.
He’s been sleeping better through the night, usually going down between 7:00 & 8:30pm and sleeping until 1 or 2 am, then going back to sleep until about 5:30am. He doesn’t always go back to sleep at 5:30, though. Not too big a deal on workdays, but not so nice on days I don’t have to get up.
I went back to work yesterday and Alex went to daycare for the 1st time. It was really, really hard to leave him in the morning. Eric was going to drive him to daycare shortly after I left. We were quite worried because we had not successfully gotten him to take a bottle yet, but he drank it dry for Barb with no fuss at all.
Alex was inspecting his hand today. Just yesterday my mother said that he would be coming to that age, but I hadn’t seen it yet. Today I did. He also tries to stuff his entire fist into his mouth, without much success.
He rolled onto his side while in his crib a few days ago. He is also able to stand up while we hold his arms. He’s never had a floppy head, so he holds it up very well now and we almost never need to support it.
Alex loves the swing. If we really want him to sleep, that’s the best place to put him. The car also puts him to sleep instantly.
He smiles all the time and is starting to vocalize. He will lay under th activity center and bat at the animals. He will also lay there and watch the giraffe dance on his chest (aided by mama) for more than 20 minutes. When we hold him, he insists on facing outward so he can see what’s going on.
