Conversation between me and Beth this morning:

Beth: “Mom, can I have a piece of bacon?”
Me: “Did you finish your toast yet?”
Beth: “That’s immaterial.”

Such a big word for such a little girl! And I totally couldn’t stop laughing after she said that. 🙂

  1. Oh my gosh how hilarious was this! I would love to have been there to hear her. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Did you understand that word in the context that she used it? Or did you ask her to explain? You dad says he can’t even spell that word much less whip it out in a sentence when he needs it.

  3. What a smart little cookie she is. Wonder where she learned such a big word. That statement was definitely one for her memory book!

    Love Aunt Lynn

  4. You know, it is probably Eric’s “fault” that she can effortlessly whip out those big words considering the fact that he has always talked to the kids using “adult” words and assuming they would understand the meaning.

  5. I think it’s a good thing that Eric talks to the kids how he does. Your four years old used it perfectly. Know any other kids that can?

  6. We think it’s good that he has always talked to all three of them that way, too. Obviously they have bigger vocabularies than most children their age.
